Onboard new hires

A first week of guides,
not questions.

New people ask the same twenty questions. Record the answers once, file them in one collection, and send the link on day one.

In short

Chronika is onboarding documentation software for new hires. Record the tasks of a first week once, each as a step-by-step guide with a screenshot per click, and file them in a collection. A new colleague works through them at their own pace, and their manager answers fewer of the same questions.

01How it works

Record it. Share it. Fix it. Keep it.

Day one is the laptop, the chat and the first timesheet. Record those three and the welcome email opens with links instead of a queue outside your desk.

  1. Capture it as you work

Record the set-up you walk every new person through

You already explain the laptop, the accounts and the tools to every new hire. Do it once with the recorder on, in the browser or in a Windows program, and the next hire gets the same walk-through without you.

    • Record a browser tab or any Windows window
    • Add your own voice where a step needs context: who to ask, and when
    • Record from a test or sample account, so no real person’s data is in the pictures
  2. Share it where work happens

Send a collection’s worth of links on day one

Put the links in the welcome email or invite the new hire to your team workspace as a viewer. An invitation can be tied to one email address and used once. Then the whole library is theirs to read.

    • Public read-only links for people who are not in the workspace yet
    • Guide Me plays any guide one step at a time
    • PDF and Word exports for the printed welcome pack
  3. Fix the painful parts

Show the exact click, not the general area

The hard part of a first week is not knowing what to click. Each step shows the screen with the click ringed. With the extension, Guide Me can run on the live page and point at the next click on the real site.

    • Guide Me on the live site, driven by the extension
    • Tips on the steps people stumble over
    • Zoom and annotate the one button on a crowded screen
  4. Keep the library in order

    Keep the first-week shelf current

Make one collection for the first week. After each new hire, fix the step they got stuck on, and the next person gets the improvement. Viewers can read it and cannot change it.

    • Editors fix and add steps; admins manage members and invitations
    • Collections keep the first week apart from the rest of the library
    • Reorder steps if the first week changes
Ask me to write the introduction to your first-week guide and I will draft it from the steps for you to read through. I work from the step text and cannot see the screenshots, and I will not send the link for you. I need an AI provider, which whoever runs your Chronika sets up.

02Example guides

Guides you would record

These are the kinds of guides a first-week library could hold. They are examples, not customer work.

  1. 01How to set up your laptop and sign in
  2. 02How to join the team chat and your first meeting
  3. 03How to ask for access to the tools you need
  4. 04How to submit your first timesheet
  5. 05How to book a desk or a meeting room
  6. 06How to enroll in benefits

Tip

Over €1,500 needs your manager’s approval first.

03What you get

What Chronika does for a first week

  • Records the set-up once, in the browser or on Windows
  • Invites new people by link, tied to one email address or open until you revoke it
  • Lets new hires read as viewers, without changing anything
  • Runs Guide Me as a player or as an overlay on the live page
  • Lets you add a tip where new people tend to get stuck
  • Exports to PDF, Word, HTML and Markdown

04Questions

Before you start

Can a new hire open the guides before they have an account?
Yes, through a guide’s public link, which is read-only and needs no sign-in. For the whole library, invite them to the workspace as a viewer. If accounts are invitation-only on your server, the invitation link is how they get in.
Can I update a guide after a new hire finds a mistake?
Yes. Open the guide, fix or add the step, and anyone who opens it afterward sees the new version.
Does the new hire need to install anything?
Not to read a guide. Guide Me on the live site runs through the browser extension, so a reader who wants that overlay installs it.
